2008 Future of Jazz Competition

This year’s competition featured six categories, with six winners. The competition categories included Contemporary Instrumental, Contemporary Vocal, Traditional Instrumental, Traditional Vocal, Nu-Jazz and Fusion Jazz. Three bands from each of the jazz genres competed for a panel of industry and celebrity judges to become a Future of Jazz Winner. Each of the six winners will perform during the 2008 Atlanta Jazz Festival. In addition, the Atlanta Jazz Festival will present each winner with a check in the amount of $500.

04.26.06 | Future of Jazz Volume #1

The Future of Jazz – Volume #1 available on Jammates Records hits the streets this month. The $15.00 compilation CD, recorded during live Churchill Grounds 2005 performances, features original compositions from 10 Future of Jazz past participants. The Artists have waived their recording royalties and Jammates is gifting the net profit proceeds to the Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs to fund future local performing opportunities. Artists on the recording include: Squat, Jaspects, Adams Township, Christian Tamburr, International Groove Conspiracy, Will Scruggs Jazz Fellowship, Tammy Allen, William Green, Traci Wynn, and William Herriott featuring Kemba Cofield.
